Farewell, Farewell film

Farewell, Farewell film

a dulcimer arrangement of Richard Thompson’s haunting folk song Farewell Farewell, beautifully sung by Rebecca Hallworth – the melody and introduction are from the traditional English folk song Willie O Winsbury, to which Richard Thompson added his lyrics

I fist heard Willie O Winsbury played by the The Pantangle on their Solomon’s Seal album and Farewell Farewell on Fairport Convention’s Liege & Lief album – both these records were part of the soundtrack to my college years, spent at Van Mildert College of the University of Durham

performed fingerstyle (fingerpicking) on my Doug Berch mountain dulcimer in Ionian tuning EBB (DAA but in key of E) – a similar version is recorded on my Au Vieux Moulin CD (DSM7 – 2014)
